VFI- Masonry Walls Coating System

VFI-608 is designed for waterproofing below grade masonry surfaces such as foundation walls, basement walls, retaining walls, etc. VFI-630 Flashing Grade Acrylic Coating is a high-build, single component acrylic sealant designed to seal cracks, holes, and through-wall penetrations in masonry walls prior to applying VFI-690 Waterproofing Primer. VFI-690 is a 100% Acrylic Elastomeric Waterproofing Primer. It is designed to seal pores in all types of masonry walls prior to top coating with an exterior acrylic paint of the owner’s choice. VFI-695 is a clear water repellent intended for use on bare brick, and stone walls. It provides a durable, clear protective barrier against water and dirt.

Concrete masonry walls can be major areas of water intrusion in a building. Because of their porous structure they invite water into the building through capillary action.

Ounce water has penetrated the masonry surface it can cause cracks to form. Left untreated, these cracks will continue to widen making the water intrusion worse and worse.

Water intrusion into masonry walls can also cause the steel reinforcing bars (rebar) to corrode and expand. This expanding metal will cause the concrete to crack and eventually to fall apart or spall. This not only causes water intrusion issues but is a major liability to a building owner.

VFI’s wall waterproofing and water repellent products combat this by either creating a seamless, non-porous protective barrier (VFI-608 and VFI-690) or by lowering the surface tension of the masonry surface (VFI-695). The result is that water does not have the chance to penetrate into the pours of the masonry system stopping capillary action before it has a chance to get started and preventing cracks from forming.

The VFI-Concrete Masonry Walls Coating System is made up of our VFI-608, VFI-630, VFI-690 and VFI-695.

Apply by spray, roller or brush. A wide range of spray equipment can be used including airless spray or conventional spray. When applying the VFI-600 Masonry Series in hot weather, coating may thicken in idle spray hoses due to the resulting high temperatures.
