Hybrid Metal
Metal (Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid)
Metal roofs age over time causing rust, deflection in panels, loose or backed-out fasteners, and degradation to flashings and accessories. All of these defects are potential leak points in a metal roof. Using VFI-640 Gray Base Coat, SEALGUARD VFI-991 Standard Solids Silicone Top Coat, VFI-630 Flashing Grade, and fabrics, metal roof can be made seamless to prevent water intrusion and be protected from corrosion and premature aging. Using SEALGUARD VFI-991 Standard Solids Silicone as a top coat provides a flexible, durable finish that will also stand up to ponding water situations. Using SEALGUARD VFI-991 White can also lower the surface temperature of a metal roof by as much as 120° F.

Hybrid Modified Bitumen
Modified Bitumen/ Built-Up (Hybrid)
Over time, modified bitumen and built-up roofing become brittle due to exposure to Infrared and UV rays. Seams pull apart, granules are lost, cracks begin to form, accessories and flashings fail. All of these conditions allow water to penetrate into the roofing system and eventually the structure.
Our Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid Roofing System can create a new seamless skin over the existing roofing system. The roof is fully adhered and fully reinforced to the existing mod-bit/ BUR system. The Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid system from VFI is not dependent on the existing roof to provide any long-term waterproofing. Because there is no need to remove the existing roofing system this can be done for a fraction of the cost of traditional roofing. All that is required to rejuvenate Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid Roofing System at the end of its useful life is to add additional layers of SEALGUARD VFI-991 Standard Solids Silicone.
When SEALGUARD VFI-991 White reflective coating is applied, the temperature of the roof can be reduced by as much as 120° F. Because of this cool roof effect, energy costs due to cooling are reduced by as much as 70%.

Hybrid Single Ply
Single Ply Roofing (Hybrid)
Over time, the protective layer of a single ply roofing system will break-down to the point that the scrim (fabric reinforcement) of the single ply will be exposed to the elements. Seams pull apart, cracks begin to form, accessories and flashing’s fail. All of these conditions allow water to penetrate into the roofing system and potentially into the structure. Our Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid System can create a new seamless skin over the existing roofing system. The roof is fully adhered and fully reinforced to the existing single ply roof.
The Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid system from VFI is not dependent on the existing roof to provide any long-term waterproofing. Because there is no need to remove the existing roofing system this can be done for a fraction of the cost of traditional roofing. All that is required to rejuvenate the Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid System at the end of its useful life is to add additional layers of SEALGUARD VFI-991 SILICONE. SEALGUARD VFI-991 Standard Solids White Silicone is rated as a cool roof by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC). The result is a substantial reduction in cooling costs compared to traditional roofing.

Hybrid Wood/Recovery Board
Wood/ Recovery Board (Hybrid)
There are times when it is necessary to use plywood, OSB, or other types of recovery boards such as in new construction, over a gravel roof, or to create a slope using tapered insulation. In these situations the VFI Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid System can be used as a stand-alone roofing system.
The substrate will first be made seamless and water-tight by treating all board seams, perimeters, penetrations, equipment curbs and roof field with VFI-640 Acrylic Base Coat and VFI reinforcing fabric. Then the roof is coated with SEALGUARD VFI-991 Standard Solids Silicone to protect the base coat and fabric from the effects of the environment and to withstand areas of ponding water. All that is required to rejuvenate the Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid System at the end of its useful life is to add additional layers of SEALGUARD VFI-991 Standard Solids Silicone.
SEALGUARD VFI-991 White is rated as a cool roof by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC). The result is a substantial reduction in cooling costs compared to traditional roofing.

VFI’s Acrylic/ Silicone Hybrid System combines the best performance characteristics from our Acrylic and Silicone roofing systems. This system is fully adhered to the substrate and fully reinforced using VFI-640 Acrylic Gray Base Coat in combination with our non-woven polyester fabric. It is then top coated with SEALGUARD VFI-991 Standard Solids, Solvent Based Silicone. The system provides the benefit of a fully reinforced, fully adhered, seamless coating system. This system is not at all reliant on the existing roofing system to provide waterproofing. It also provides the benefits of a silicone top coat- resistance to ponding water, superior resistance to aging, etc.
The benefits benefits to using VFI’s Acrylic/Silicone Hybrid Coating System are:
- Resistance to ponding water (water which remains on the roof 48 hours after a rain event)
- Fully adhered
- Fully reinforced
- Seamless
- Not reliant on existing roofing system for waterproofing
- Self-flashing- eliminates the need for accessories
- 100% UV resistant
- Superior resistance to aging compared to other roofing materials
- Renewable- at the end of its useful life, all that has to be done to rejuvenate the roof is to add additional coats of SEALGUARD VFI-991 Standard Solids, Solvent Based Silicone.
- High tensile strength and elongation
- SEALGUARD VFI-991 White has a high cool roof rating greatly reducing energy costs
- Can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed
